In all three of Lewis Hamilton’s title wins with Mercedes, he returned from the summer break in brilliant form. He’s managed to achieve back-to-back victories to fend off his championship rivals. He finished second in Belgium, first in Italy, yet Mercedes are playing down the Briton’s chances of winning in Singapore. 

Lewis’ Mercedes is seen as inferior to Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari. Vettel was set to win the Italian Grand Prix, or at least finish higher than Hamilton, but a first-lap collision set him back 30 points behind Hamilton at the end of the round. It is believed that the Ferrari should once again favor the German this Sunday.

Lewis and Sebastian arrived in Singapore in a similar position a year ago. Seb got pole but crashed into Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen soon after the race start. Lewis won the race, that eventually became a turning point in the championship battle, and never looked back. Is it payback time for Sebastian and his Ferrari?
