A Historic Tribute for a National Icon
The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) will officially honor Nasser Al Kuwari, one of Qatar’s most accomplished and respected rally co-drivers, during a special ceremony at Lusail International Circuit on April 30 at 7:30 PM. This emotional tribute marks his retirement from professional motorsport after more than two decades of groundbreaking achievements.
A Legacy Written in Dust and Glory
Nasser Al Kuwari’s career is one of the most decorated in Middle Eastern motorsport history. He is a 7-time Middle East Rally Champion, 10-time Qatar Rally Champion, 6-time Kuwait Rally Champion, and made headlines by finishing 4th overall in the 2025 Dakar Rally—one of the most demanding rally raids in the world.
His journey began in 2001, navigating a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III in the Qatar International Rally. From that very first stage, Al Kuwari demonstrated the precision, courage, and determination required to rise through the ranks. Over the years, he has partnered with some of the region’s top drivers, including Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Saleh Al Saif, Bader Al Fayez, Mishari Al Thefiri, and Salah Bin Eidan.
Retiring a Champion
The decision to honor Nasser Al Kuwari comes in light of his retirement from motorsports, bringing an era of rally greatness to a close. Though stepping away from competition, his influence on the sport will continue for generations to come.
“Nasser Al Kuwari’s retirement is a moment for the entire motorsport community to reflect and celebrate,” said a QMMF spokesperson. “He has carried the Qatari flag across continents, inspired young athletes, and helped define the region’s rallying identity. His contributions go beyond trophies—he built a legacy.”
Raising the Qatar Flag Around the World
Throughout his career, Nasser Al Kuwari proudly represented Qatar on the global stage, becoming a national ambassador in every event he entered. Whether racing in the Middle East, Europe, or South America, he carried his country’s colors with honor and distinction.
From regional desert stages to the global spotlight of Dakar, Al Kuwari showcased Qatari talent, precision, and endurance. His presence alongside elite drivers gave international recognition to the country’s motorsport scene and inspired the next wave of Qatari co-drivers and teams.
Celebration at Lusail International Circuit
The April 30 tribute event at Lusail will be attended by fellow drivers, officials, media, fans, and family. The evening will feature a full career retrospective, including video highlights, speeches, and the official presentation by QMMF honoring his service to the sport.
The highlight of his final season, his 4th-place finish in Dakar 2025, will be spotlighted as a career-defining moment that captured international attention and brought pride to Qatar.
A Future Beyond the Cockpit
Although retiring from active competition, Nasser Al Kuwari is expected to remain involved in the sport, with potential roles in mentorship, training, or motorsport development within Qatar. His knowledge and leadership will continue to benefit future generations.
