Mercedes AMG EV Sedan Revealed with Sleek Styling

Mercedes has teased its upcoming AMG-exclusive electric performance sedan, set to replace the current AMG GT four-door. This sleek EV draws design inspiration from the bold Vision AMG concept revealed in 2022 and is expected to debut in 2026.

While the AMG GT coupe entered a new generation in 2024, the four-door version continued with minor updates and a new plug-in hybrid. Now, that model will evolve into a fully electric fastback, featuring a coupe-like roofline and hatchback design rather than a conventional sedan silhouette.

A teaser image released on Instagram reveals an athletic stance with muscular rear haunches and confirms the EV will retain a four-door layout. Though many dramatic elements from the Vision AMG concept—like transparent windows—won’t reach production, signature lighting cues could remain. Expect to see Mercedes’ star motif integrated into the headlights and taillights, along with three-piece rear lights reminiscent of jet afterburners.

This new AMG EV will ride on the AMG.EA platform, a dedicated electric architecture engineered for high performance. It will feature axial-flux motors developed by Yasa, a British firm acquired by Mercedes in 2021. These motors promise excellent power-to-weight efficiency and compact dimensions. A high-voltage battery will enable rapid charging and sustained performance.

The electric sedan is expected to coexist with the plug-in hybrid GT63 S E Performance for a time. Following this launch, Mercedes will also introduce an electric AMG SUV on the same platform, extending its EV performance lineup.
