The BMW M2 CS has officially set a new Nürburgring lap record for compact performance cars, clocking an impressive 7 minutes and 25.5 seconds on the legendary Nordschleife track.
Driven by BMW test driver Jörg Weidinger, the M2 CS outpaced its rival, the Audi RS3, by eight seconds. This marks a 13-second improvement over Weidinger’s previous lap in last year’s M2, signaling serious progress and performance gains.
Under the hood, the M2 CS features a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine, delivering more power and sharper dynamics than its predecessor. This version includes an eight-speed automatic transmission, upgraded suspension lowered by 8mm, and an enhanced performance exhaust.
Additional performance upgrades include optional carbon ceramic brakes and unique engine mounts, along with several carbon-fiber-reinforced components like the roof, hood, and interior elements, reducing overall weight by approximately 30kg.
This isn’t just a faster M2 — it’s a lighter, more track-focused machine built to dominate. The onboard lap video captures every second of the record-setting run and showcases the M2 CS in its element.
The compact performance game has just been raised.
