Abdo Feghali: we will be saving money to get an S2000 for ROL 2012

Abdo Feghali set an amazing record of 1:29:55 yesterday in Jouret Arsoun and here is what he had to say after the race…

You simply scored an imaginary time. What can you tell us at this moment?

Well this record comes as a reply to those people who ask me; “Dado don’t you get bored from winning?”…

We asked you this question at the speed test…

Look nobody gets bored of winning. After all we don’t just work on the car we work on the complete package at MotorTune; the driver, the engineer, the suspension and the setup and many more components that gives you the winning formula. As you can see now we have 7 prototype cars, but they are not complete packages. It is earthier there is a good driver with a normal car or a car that needs a better suspension. There is always a missing factor. They need to work more on improving themselves.

What was the best and most competitive package today for Dado?

Ziad my cousin proved that he is an excellent driver although this year’s car has much less power. Maybe last year’s car needed more work on other areas. I was surprised by Nadim Halabi especially that he beat Rodrigue at the last heat. The BMWs saw a lot of competition especially between Garo and Michel Feghali, where Garo beat Michel by only half a second. Nobody made a mistake in the race, and this is something that makes you happy. As I told you I gave myself a challenge although I set a very fast time from the first run, so I wanted to beat the record set in 2006 where the cars had fewer limitations; no restrictors, no weight limitations, stroker engine…

There were no boundaries back then…

Yes and I broke the record by 1.5 seconds…

Even the road and the weather were better back then…

The weather didn’t help us at all today.

How does it feel that you were the only MotorTune driver today and you nailed it and won everything?

As you the guys are preparing for 2 rallies; the local in Jordan and the upcoming spring rally and the Hill Climb costs them as much as one long rally training.

So they were obliged to be absent?

Yes they were practicing for the rally. I will be back in the spring rally on the EVO 9 Group N…

Tell us more about your participation in the local Lebanese Rally Champion?

My dream was to be able to compete on an R4 or on an S2000 car since we proved in the Rally of Lebanon 2012 that we can compete with Roger and Nasser. The problem is that budget wise I can’t pull it. What I am trying to do is save as much money as I can so I can get a super 2000 car of the rally of Lebanon.

Last year in the rally of Lebanon you were able to have a pace close to that of Roger and Nasser on a group N car. Can you compete with a group N car on the local championship this year?

Well I am not in to compete with anyone I am just in it for preparation and training, especially on setting up the car and the suspension in addition to practicing with my co-driver. At the beginning of July Red Bull will reply to me depending on their sales in the region, which is on the up, and we hope that we will be able to compete on the championship.

I just hope that Roger and I would have a weapon similar to that of Nasser and not necessarily something better to keep the title in Lebanon.

Can you tell us if there is a potential Red Bull driver in Lebanon other than Dado?

Not this year for sure. As you know last year I pushed for Nicolas Amiouni to become a member of the Red Bull family and this is what happened. He is now a placement product and is under observation for next year. As you know, to become a Red Bull athlete they will study you from A to Z and I guess he fits under this label.

Finally how did you find the fans today?

The first heat saw the normal amount of fans we see in this region but at the second heat it was unbelievable. There were huge numbers; it’s like entering a football field.  This means that the sport is improving and at the end we ask everybody to do this sport in the right place and not on the road.
