Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal secures class victory in 2014 Gulf 12 Hours

December 16, 2014 – Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal completed his 2014 motorsport season with Team Black Falcon on a high after securing a dominant victory in the Gulf 12 Hours that was held at the Yas Marina Circuit this past Saturday.

The Gulf 12 Hours is a unique endurance race, featuring two 6-hour races separated by a three-hour break in which teams can work on their cars; the race is open to GT cars from GT2 to GT4, as well as one-make series such as Porsche Cup and Ferrari Challenge, sports cars such as CN2, and a limited number of touring cars.

Driving a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 for the Black Falcon team, the Red Bull athlete and his team mates Hubert Haupt and Richard Muscat qualified in fourth place for the race – fastest among the Pro-Am class cars.

Saturday’s split 6-hour races witnessed some amazing battles between the Black Falcon Mercedes and faster Pro-class cars. However, despite losing ground to the Pro-class competitors, AlFaisal and his team mates’ lead in the Pro-Am class was completely unchallenged throughout the 12-hour race.

In the end, and after an absolutely dominant drive by AlFaisal, Haupt and Muscat, the Black Falcon Mercedes crossed the finish line first in the Pro-Am class – more than 3 laps ahead of their closest rival – and fourth overall.

AlFaisal’s victory concluded a very successful first season with Black Falcon following podiums in both the 24 Hours of Dubai and Nürburgring 1000km.
