Abu Dhabi Motors showcases globally renowned artist, Helen Amy Murray’s, exclusive commission for The Rolls-Royce Phantom Gallery

Abu Dhabi Motors, the exclusive Rolls-Royce Motor Cars dealership in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, has welcomed globally renown British artist, Helen Amy Murray, to the Capital to discuss her commission for the Rolls-Royce Phantom Gallery: Whispered Muse.

Exclusive to Rolls-Royce’s Phantom VIII, the eighth iteration of the storied Phantom model, The Gallery – a pure application of glass, running uninterrupted across the fascia – is an innovation that furthers Rolls-Royce’s unparalleled Bespoke vision and mastery of materials and craft. In a very first for automotive, the feature blends Rolls-Royce’s patronage of the arts with its customers’ love of the Bespoke, allowing discerning individuals the opportunity to appreciate some of their favourite art collections, while on the road.

Murray discussed her masterpiece – a reinterpretation of the icon that is The Spirit of Ecstasy – at an exclusive suhoor held at Manarat Al Saadiyat. In addition to her artwork offering exceptional inspiration, Murray also hosted consultations with VIP customers to conceptualise – and, indeed, order – their own Bespoke Gallery commissions.

Guests also experienced the opportunity to meet with Bespoke Designer Michael Bryden, who leads the curation of all Bespoke motor cars from Goodwood, UK, the Home of Rolls-Royce.

British textile designer, Helen Amy Murray, is an artist with a natural affinity to fabric. Her work masterfully sculpts textiles, most frequently leather, suede and their faux counterparts, into unique three-dimensional decorative surfaces and compelling works of art. With a wide portfolio ranging from large-scale wall hangings to unique pieces of furniture, Helen’s work captivates in its sculpted textural form.

For her collaboration with Rolls-Royce, Murray has skillfully created a work for New Phantom’s Gallery with a dual illusion. On first glance, a serene landscape emerges from a delicate organic form. The sculpted silk appliqué provides a mesmerising aesthetic with a linear style, from which, on closer examination, a subtle draped female form appears, the wing of the elusive Spirit of Ecstasy. Even then, she appears shrouded in mystery, with the design only hinting at her form through the delicate silhouette of the line of her neck that emerges from the edge of ‘The Gallery’.

Commenting on her commission for The Gallery, Whispered Muse, Helen Amy Murray said: “On visiting the Home of Rolls-Royce, I was inspired by the ethereal quality of the illustrations of The Spirit of Ecstasy by Charles Sykes. They led me to incorporate the female form into my work; I wanted my Gallery commission to look soft and organic. The subtle spacing of lines brings the draped figure into perspective.”

Helen Amy Murray is one of a collection of hand-picked artists chosen to collaborate with Rolls-Royce to commission a Bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantom Gallery. Patrons are now invited to commission artworks for their own personal Gallery within Phantom at Abu Dhabi Motors. As the exclusive Rolls-Royce dealership in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in the UAE, Abu Dhabi Motors prides itself in delivering the most dynamic Bespoke designs to the region’s most elite motoring enthusiasts. d0 Lis
