Aston Martin Announces Adrian Newey’s Major Role

Adrian Newey, F1 design legend, joins Aston Martin as Managing Technical Partner and shareholder, spearheading the 2026 car project.

Aston Martin Racing has officially confirmed Adrian Newey’s appointment as Managing Technical Partner, effective March 1, 2025. In this newly established role, Newey will lead the design of the team’s cars for the 2026 Formula 1 season, aligning with the sport’s new technical regulations. Additionally, he will become a shareholder in the team.

Newey’s move follows his announcement of departure from Red Bull Racing, driven by internal team dynamics and his desire for new challenges. Despite initial speculation linking him with Ferrari, Newey will instead collaborate with Aston Martin and its star driver, Fernando Alonso.

Newey’s decision was significantly influenced by Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll’s ambitious vision, including the development of a state-of-the-art technology campus and wind tunnel at Silverstone. Newey praised Stroll’s dedication and the team’s advanced infrastructure, which he believes will be crucial in achieving world championship success.

Stroll described Newey’s signing as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” highlighting the team’s commitment to building a championship-winning Formula 1 squad. Newey’s extensive experience, including championship wins with Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull, is expected to greatly benefit Aston Martin’s future prospects.
