December 28, 2015 – Qatar’s two-time WRC 2 champion Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah has announced that he will not be defending his title in 2016 in order to focus on preparations for the Summer Olympic games.
A bronze medalist in the 2012 Summer Olympics in clay pigeon shooting, Al-Attiyah won his first WRC title in 2014, and successfully defended it in 2015, but has made the Olypmic games his priority for next year.
However, the 11-time Middle East Rally Champion will remain active in motorsport and will compete in the Dakar Rally, FIA Middle East Rally Championship, FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup and World Rallycross, motorsport.com has revealed.
