All-new 2014 Maserati Quattroporte breaks cover

Maserati took the automotive world by surprise after releasing the first details and images of its all-new 2013 Quattroporte which is set to make its first public appearance at the Detroit Motor Show in January.

Drawing design inspiration from its sibling, the sporty GranTurismo; the new luxury saloon will be up to 40 kilograms lighter than the outgoing model, in addition to being 148 millimeters longer, therefore more legroom for the rear passengers.

New for 2014 is an all-wheel drive option that will be available one year following the rear-wheel drive model’s launch.

The 2014 Quattroporte will take power from a Ferrari-made V8 engine unit, most likely an updated version of the current 4.7-liter 453 hp unit, coupled to a ZF Automatic transmission.

Prices will range between $130,000 and $193,000 depending on equipment choices.
