Aston Martin reveals more powerful Rapide S

Aston Martin has revealed an updated version of its famous and elegant Rapide four-dour coupe.

The new Rapide S receives extensive design improvements, including a striking new full grille and a new rear deck profile with a more pronounced boot lid flip, which according to the British luxury sports carmaker “work to counteract lift at higher speeds”.

Under the bonnet, the Rapide S – which replaces the outgoing Rapide – gets a new AM11 naturally-aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine with an 80-horsepower increase, bringing total output to 550 hp and 620 Nm of peak torque.

The new four-door saloon from Aston Martin shaves 0.3 seconds off its 0 to 100 km/h time, which drops from the 5.2 seconds of the current car to just 4.9 seconds for the new model. Top speed climbs, meanwhile, to 305 km/h.

Aston Martin says the new saloon will be available to order worldwide next month, with prices confirmed closer to the on-sale date.
