Audi and BMW score worst engine failures rate

A BMW or Audi have of course been recommended to you at some point in your life, because German cars are known for their excellent engineering and build-quality, but not according to a new study by warranty provider Warranty Direct.

The new study by the UK-based company shows that highly-popular German brands such as Volkswagen, Audi and BMW have recorded poor results when it comes to engine failures.

A total of 36 automakers, excluding General Motors and Chrysler, were taken into consideration, with Japanese brands Honda and Toyota topping the list, followed by Mercedes-Benz.

MG Rover was the lowest scorer, with 1 in 13 cars having engine failures, while Audi took the second worst spot (1 in 27) and BMW seventh worst spot (1 in 45).
