Audi R8 gets a refreshed look and a new transmission for 2013

After testing the car for almost more than a year, Audi has finally lifted the covers off its facelifted R8 model for the year 2013, which is set to make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Long story short, the all-new 2013 model gets some small aesthetic treatments both inside and out, in addition to a new seven-speed S tronic dual clutch transmission that replaces the six-speed R tronic.

Audi will offer a new high-end coupe-only version of the R8 called the “V10 Plus” which boasts a lighter and more powerful V10 engine with 542-horsepower and will essentially replace the R8 GT model.

The Ingolstadt-based company claims the new 7-Speed gearbox has reduced carbon emissions by up to 22 grams/km and decreased the 0-100 km/h time by 3-tenths of a second, making the R8 V8 accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds and reache a top speed of 300km/h, while making the V10 version complete the sprint in 3.6 seconds and top out at 314 km/h.

The redesgined R8 will hit the European markets before the end of the year.
