The 2013 Lebanese Hill Climb Championship kicked off last Sunday with the first round which took place in the village of Baabdat (Metn). The event, as usual, was divided into three heats, with the 43 participants taking part in 3 heats, while the quickest 2/3 runs are calculated. Abdo Feghali emerged as the victor after a blisteringly quick run in Heat 2; he later crashed out in Heat 3 while trying to impress the fans with the event’s highest jump ever. Abdo was safe and sound.
It was a close battle for the runner-up spot between Rodrigue Rahi and Nicolas Amiouni, but it was the former who ultimately snatched the position, leaving his rival third overall. Amiouni, though, was quickest of all Group N cars, a result he should be proud of.
Other drivers who shaped up the Hill Climb’s eventfulness were Ziad Feghali, Samer Abdel Malak and Naoum Oneissi, all of whom unfortunately crashed out from the race. (You can watch Naoum’s crash here).
