After winning the group a category in the first 2 rallies of the season and proving himself as one of the fastest drivers, Bassel talked to us about the Cedars Rally and what he is looking to for the future.
Are you satisfied with your results in the previous 2 rallies so far?
Well I’m not totally satisfied but this is the best we can do compared to the preparation time we had ahead of every rally. The good thing is that I’m listing to my co-driver and co-coordinating with him. I never used to listen to the co-driver but now it’s becoming much better. So in general we are ok with the results and we should improve. The best thing is that we are leading our category and we and our opponents are finishing safely.
Practically you have somehow guaranteed the championship of the group A. do you still think this category has the same importance as the group N and the 1600cc?
Well the group N cars are much further away than we are and we are ahead of the 1600cc so I guess it still important.
There are 3 cars in this category is it worth it to have a championship?
Well yes it’s worth it. The other categories need bigger budgets and it’s very difficult to compete with Roger for example since he is a big champion.
What are your targets for next year?
I am aiming for a Clio maxi 3 with a sequential gearbox so I can challenge the EVOs next year.
