Black Falcon fired up for new Blancpain Endurance Series season

April 4, 2015 – Black Falcon is preparing to expand its motorsport activities in 2015 as the new Blancpain Endurance Series season approaches.

The first round of the season will be held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy on April 12, and Black Falcon aims to undertake the Italian event in its two Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 racecars.

Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal (KSA) and Hubert Haupt (Germany) will return to the series after a successful end to the 2014 season, in which they secured 3rd place overall in the final round at the Nürburgring.

Yelmer Buurman (Netherlands) will join AlFaisal and Haupt in the Pro class, meaning the trio that had scored the outright victory at the 24 Hours of Dubai earlier this year reunites for a full season together in the Blancpain Endurance Series.

In the sister Pro AM Mercedes, Black Falcon welcomes back Oliver Morley (UK) who drove for the team in the 2012 and 2013 seasons, taking two Pro AM podium finishes and a victory.

Morley aims for the Pro AM championship title with two new Black Falcon drivers, including 2012 IMSA GT3 Challenge champion and current Porsche Carrera Cup driver Sean Johnston (USA), in addition to former DTM star Maro Engel (Germany).

Sean Paul Breslin, Black Falcon’s team principal, said: “The competition in the Blancpain Endurance Series is tougher than ever this year, but the team will be going all out to take up where it left off in 2014.”

The 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series consists of five rounds, with the first round, the 3 Hours of Monza on April 12, being the first of them.

The second round will be held at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK on May 24 and the French round at the Circuit Paul Ricard on June 20 will follow it.

The fourth and most prominent round, known as Total 24 Hours of Spa, will take place on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on July 25-26, before the season concludes on Black Falcon’s home track, the Nürburgring, on September 20.
