Black Falcon’s #10 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 remained at the top of the timesheets during the second qualifying session for the 41st Nurburgring 24-hour race; the Mercedes posted a 8:23.181 – a 16-second improvement compared to the team’s Qualifying 1 time.
Second quickest were Belgian Audi Club Team WRT on their #29 Audi R8 LMS ultra; the team took provisional pole, but were eventually pushed back to second ahead of Phoenix Racing in third.
Abt Team Mamerow and their #2 Audi crossed the line in fourth with the ROWE Racing Mercedes in fifth. G-Drive Racing by Phoenix – with the #1 Audi – were sixth followed by the Vantage GT3 of Aston Martin Racing in seventh.
Manthey Racing’s #18 Porsche 911 looked like a genuine pole contender at the start of the session, but the 911 GT3 RSR was outpaced by SP9 class cars, therefore ended up 8th overall.
BMW Team Schubert had a low-key qualifying session, with the #19 Z4 GT3 taking 41st, and the #20 car a further 5 positions behind in 46th.
The 40 fastest cars will fight it out for pole position during the top 40 qualifying session which is scheduled at 17:50 tonight (18:50 Beirut time).
