Premium car manufacturer BMW and aerospace corporation Boeing have announced a new partnership to research carbon fiber manufacturing and recycling.
The research will take place in Washington – USA where Boeing has an assembly plant for its 787 Dreamliner, and German automaker BMW has a carbon fiber manufacturing facility.
In order to enhance the lightweight and rigid material, BMW and Boeing will share valuable data.
BMW plans to implement the material on its upcoming i3 and i8 hybrid vehicles, while Boeing will make good use of it for the 787 Dreamliner, which is made up of 50 percent carbon fiber.
