BMW has unveiled the new M2 CS, a high-performance evolution of its compact sports coupe. It now produces 526bhp, making it significantly more powerful than its predecessor. The upgraded 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine shares DNA with the BMW M4 GT3 Evo and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering power exclusively to the rear wheels.
The M2 CS accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 3.8 seconds and reaches 124mph in just 11.7 seconds. With the M Driver’s Pack included as standard, the top speed is 188mph. Power increases are thanks to revised engine mapping, and the engine itself features motorsport-inspired upgrades such as a rigid crankcase, forged components, and iron-coated cylinder bores for durability.
BMW has also fine-tuned the chassis, with a ride height lowered by 8mm and recalibrated suspension, steering, and stability systems. Braking is enhanced with red calipers, and optional carbon ceramic brakes are available for improved stopping power.
Visually, the CS gets subtle but functional changes, including a redesigned kidney grille, ducktail rear spoiler, lightweight alloy wheels on track tires, and additional carbon fiber throughout the body and cabin. The use of lightweight materials trims around 30kg from the standard M2, improving agility and responsiveness.
Inside, it features electric bucket seats and a minimalist performance-focused layout. Though closely related to the M2 Competition, the CS is lighter, faster, and engineered for more serious driving. BMW may be hinting at even more extreme variants to come.
