BMW M4 takes on sister i8 in a drag race

December 31, 2014 – German automobile magazine Autobild has put together a drag race we’ve been heavily anticipating, the intrafamily battle between the BMW M4 and BMW i8.

The M4’s turbocharged six-cylinder engine churns out 430 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, the sports car weighs around 1600 kilograms and is rear-wheel drive, whereas the i8 produces 360 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque from its hybrid powertrain (turbocharged three-cylinder engine and electric motor), but it weighs around 1490 kilograms and it’s pushed by all four wheels.

Will it be a close contest? Find out in the video below. Also, note that the M4 has a manual transmission, compared to an automatic transmission in the i8.
