BMW M project manager Herbert Bayerl has revealed that the X6 M is as fast as a BMW M3 Coupe (E92) around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, just days after officially unveiling the new model alongside the new X5 M.
If what Bayerl claims is true, it would mean that the X6 M is capable of lapping the famous Nordschleife in 8 minutes 05 seconds, which makes it 9 seconds quicker than the current record-holder, the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR, 10 seconds faster than a BMW 1 Series M and 20 seconds faster than the previous-generation X6 M.
It is worth mentioning that the new turbocharged engine powering the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M produces 575 hp, four per cent higher than that of its predecessor. At the same time, the engine’s peak torque has been boosted by around 10 per cent to 750 Nm.
