BMW unveils limited production of 50 Skytop roadsters, featuring the M8 Competition’s 633bhp V8 engine and stunning design, all units already sold.
BMW has confirmed that it will produce a limited run of 50 road-legal versions of its stunning two-seater Skytop concept. First unveiled at Villa d’Este earlier this year, this striking roadster will feature the same 4.4-liter V8 engine from the M8 Competition, delivering a whopping 633bhp. The Skytop will also have all-wheel drive and accelerate from 0 to 62mph in just 3.3 seconds.
The Skytop’s design takes inspiration from iconic BMW models, including the Fisker-designed Z8. Its lozenge-shaped body showcases a sharp, shark-nosed front end, slim custom headlights, and BMW’s signature illuminated kidney grille. The sleek body lines flow seamlessly into a boat-like rear, hand-painted in a refined silver finish. Notably, the concept forgoes traditional door handles, opting for winglets on the door shoulders to maintain its smooth design—something fans hope will make it to production.
Inside, the Skytop exudes luxury, with contrasting shades, crystal accents, and brogue-inspired decor. It also features a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and high-end tech, subtly integrated throughout. The leather-wrapped seats and roll bar add a touch of elegance, with the soft-top roof clad in faux leather.
BMW’s design head, Adrian Van Hooydonk, described the Skytop as an “exotic design” combining top-tier driving dynamics with elegance. He expressed excitement that the car will soon become a reality.
However, this dream is reserved for only a lucky few. BMW will produce just 50 of these roadsters—and they’ve all been sold already.
