A safety bulletin released by BMW of North America, and to the rest of the world by M5Post.com, has urged owners of the 2013 model year M5 and M6 owners to stop driving their cars, after the manufacturer had discovered a serious issue with the engine.
The issue itself is within the engine oil pump; the Bavarian automaker claims that the pump could experience a sudden loss of pressure and if the pump doesn’t supply the correct amount of oil to the engine’s parts, severe engine damage is the likely result.
BMW is contacting customers that have already taken delivery, in addition to providing Q&A messages to all of its dealers; it has also ceased deliveries of new vehicles with this engine until it fixes the problem.
