Bugatti working on 500-km/h Chiron hypercar

The Bugatti Veyron has been on the market for almost 10 years, and its production will soon come to and end, but a replacement is already in the pipeline.

Dubbed “Chiron”, according to Automobile Magazine, the Veyron’s successor will feature an upgraded 8.0-liter W16 engine with quad turbochargers – two of which might be electrically operated – with power output somewhere between 1200 and 1500 horsepower, peak torque of around 1500 Nm of torque.

The massively powerful engine will be coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that transfers all that power to all four wheels, which helps the Veyron sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed in excess of 460 km/h.

Automobile Mag says the Chiron will feature a speedometer that peaks at 500 km/h.
