Carlos Sainz handed back Dakar Rally lead

Carlos Sainz has been handed back the 2013 Dakar Rally lead, after an overnight investigation by the event organizers revealed that a satellite problem misled the Spanish driver yesterday afternoon.

During stage 2, the Red Bull Buggy driver dropped back from the lead to eleventh place overall as he lost more than 20 minutes while searching for a waypoint, but as it turned out, it was no fault of his own, therefore was handed back the rally lead.

Sainz now leads the pack with a 5-minute advantage over 10-time Dakar winner Stephane Peterhansel.
