Tickford Racing’s Castrol Supra tribute Mustang is an unusual but striking homage. See why this livery on a Mustang works so well.
Australian Supercars team Tickford Racing is honoring the classic Castrol Supra with a unique twist—a Ford Mustang decked out in a nostalgic livery. This homage, while unconventional, impressively captures the spirit of the original.
Earlier this year, Brad Keselowski showcased a NASCAR Ford Mustang with a tribute livery to the famed Castrol TOM’S Supra from the 1990s. Tickford Racing has embraced a similar concept, applying this iconic livery to their Mustang for an upcoming race. Though seeing this design on a Mustang may seem odd, it works remarkably well.
While Castrol-liveried Mustangs are not new, this specific design directly replicates the Supra’s classic look. Castrol, a longtime sponsor of Toyota motorsports, is renowned for its green and red livery from the 1990s, adorning cars like the Supra GT500 in Japan’s All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship until 2001.
Tickford Racing has even released a playful video featuring driver Thomas Randle firing up Gran Turismo, selecting the Castrol Mustang, and then transitioning to footage of the real car in action. The #55 Mustang will showcase this livery at the Sandown 500, held at the Sandown Circuit near Melbourne, and is expected to be a fan favorite.
