Corvette ZR1X Hybrid Supercar Delivers Extreme Performance

The Corvette ZR1X is here, and it’s redefining what American performance means. With a staggering 1,250bhp, it becomes the most powerful production Corvette ever made—blending raw muscle with cutting-edge hybrid tech.

The ZR1X combines the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 from the ZR1 with the hybrid system from the Corvette E-Ray. This advanced powertrain delivers all-wheel drive and mind-bending acceleration: 0 to 60 mph in under 2 seconds and a quarter-mile time below 9 seconds. Those numbers surpass some of the world’s fastest and most expensive hypercars.

Unlike one-off special editions, the ZR1X will be a full production model sold alongside other Corvettes. It was always part of the C8 generation’s plan, says lead engineer Keith Badgley. Internally dubbed the “kitchen sink car,” it showcases every performance tool Corvette had available.

The hybrid system has been upgraded over the E-Ray. While the battery remains the same, its usable capacity has been increased by 26 percent. The front-mounted electric motor now produces 186bhp and 145lb ft of torque, slightly higher than before. Together with the V8, the combined system adds around 115kg, bringing total dry weight to roughly 1,780kg.

That makes it heavier than rivals like the McLaren W1 or Ferrari F80, but the ZR1X counters with unmatched traction and brutal off-the-line speed. Above 160mph, the car switches to rear-wheel-drive, optimizing performance at high speeds.

Corvette hasn’t limited its ambitions to drag racing. The ZR1X is tuned for both road and track, boasting impressive cornering stats. It can hit 1.3g of peak acceleration and hold more than 1g into third gear. Braking is just as fierce, with 420mm carbon ceramic rotors and 10-piston Alcon calipers delivering 1.9g of stopping force during Nürburgring tests.

Two versions of the ZR1X will be available. The standard model features a smaller rear wing and Michelin PS4S tires for maximum top speed—estimated above 233mph. The ZTK package adds downforce and grip, thanks to a larger rear wing and Cup2R tires.

Both coupe and convertible models are planned. Pricing has not been confirmed, but the ZR1X is expected to offer hypercar-level performance without a hypercar price tag. With its aggressive engineering and all-weather capability, the ZR1X might be the boldest Corvette yet.
