Dakar Rally 2013: Two dead, seven injured after accident in Peru

Two people have died and three members of the Race2Recovery support team have been badly injured following a three-vehicle accident in South America on day five of the Dakar Rally.

The Race2Recovery support vehicle was involved in a collision with two taxis in Peru, one of which was hit head-on, while the other overturned several times as it tried to avoid the accident.

Seven people, including the three members of the support vehicle, were injured and are now being treated in a hospital in the Preuvian city of Tacna. Unfortunately, the driver and passenger of the first taxi were instantly killed.

The accident, which took place on Wednesday night in Peru, is being investigated by the local police.
