January 6, 2017 – The Dakar Rally lead changed for the third time in 5 days as Stephane Peterhansel claimed the top spot in the overall classification at the end of the fifth special stage today after setting the third quickest time.
Peterhansel’s Peugeot team-mate Sebastien Loeb was the fastest man today through SS5 and managed to move from fourth overall to second overall, while Cyril Despres dropped from first to third place to make it a Peugeot 1-2-3.
Nani Roma is now fourth overall in the Toyota, ahead of X-Raid Mini’s Mikko Hirvonen who rounds out the top 5.
A fantastic day for UAE’s Khalid Al Qassimi saw him move from 17th to 12th place overall.
