Dakar Rally: Stephane Peterhansel quickest in stage four as Loeb keeps lead

January 6, 2016 – Stephane Peterhansel went quickest of all in the fourth special stage of the 2016 Dakar Rally today, whilst Peugeot teammate Sebastien Loeb maintained his lead by going third fastest.

Peterhansel now lies second overall, 4 minutes 48 seconds behind Loeb, while Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah moved up to third overall after setting the fourth quickest time today onboard his X-Raid MINI.

Toyota’s Giniel de Villiers, who was second overall at the end of yesterday’s stage, dropped back to sixth overall after setting the 11th fastest time. Carlos Sainz (Peugeot), meanwhile, was the second fastest man today and improved from tenth to fifth in the overall standings.

Mikko Hirvonen (MINI) lost time and dropped to seventh place overall, he’s ahead of eighth-placed man Cyril Despres (Peugeot).
