Dodge officially kills the Viper sports car

June 22, 2016 – It’s official: Dodge is killing off the Viper sports car/muscle car, Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA), Dodge’s parent company, confirmed earlier this week.

Approximately 30,000 Viper models were produced ever since its introduction in 1992, but the company will cease production next year and will release a series of final editions to give the beloved sports car a proper goodbye after 25 years in production.

The reason behind FCA’s decision to kill the Viper isn’t clear, but reports suggest that low sales figures – just 676 units were sold in 2015 – and stricter emissions regulations are potential motives.
