June 30, 2016 – Both the BMW M135i and Honda Civic Type R are incredibly capable hot hatchbacks with a fundamental difference: the latter is rear-wheel drive, while the former’s driven by its front wheels.
The BMW is more powerful, with 321 bhp and 450 Nm of torque from a turbocharged six-cylinder engine whilst the Honda benefits from a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 306 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. However, the Civic Type R is 50 kilograms lighter, which means the two cars have an almost identical power-to-weight ratio.
