Drag Battle: BMW M3 F80 versus tuned BMW 1M Coupe

December 23, 2014 – A stock BMW M3 F80 takes on a modified BMW 1M Coupe in a drag race on an airstrip in Sweden.

In stock form, the BMW M3 F80 boasts a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder with 425 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, and it uses a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

The 1M produces 400 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque thanks to a raft of modifications that include ECU mapping, downpipes, intercooler and CAI. Unlike the M3, it features a six-speed manual transmission.

The new M3 might be me slightly more powerful, but the 1M is 100 kilograms lighter (1570 kg vs 1675 kg), so will weight play a significant role in this race? Find out in the video below.
