January 21, 2016 – The Bugatti Veyron remains the world’s fastest production car, but the French hypercar’s less than ideal power-to-weight ratio means that it is starting to struggle against newer hypercars in terms of acceleration.
One of the lighter hypercars is the McLaren P1, which recently raced a 2011 Veyron in a drag race in the United States. Although the Bugatti has 987 horsepower and all-wheel drive compared to the McLaren’s 903 hp and rear-wheel drive, it is 500 kilograms heavier, which puts it in a difficult situation.
