March 28, 2016 – If this drag race looks familiar, it’s because we’ve seen it before thanks to German automobile magazine Autobild, but you know what they say: the more the merrier.
A turbocharged six-cylinder engine in the BMW M4 produces 430 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque and sends it to the rear wheels, whilst a hybrid powertrain that includes a turbocharged three-cylinder engine and an electric motor in the BMW i8 generates 360 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque – which are sent to all four wheels. It’s also worth noting that both weigh almost the same.
In Autobild’s drag race it was an easy win for the i8, but this race – organized by Top Gear – is much closer.
