The TWR Supercat, a supercharged Jaguar XJS restomod, boasts a 650bhp V12 engine and an all-carbon body. Here’s what it’s like to drive this icon reimagined.
Meet the TWR Supercat, a stunning restomod of the classic Jaguar XJS that combines vintage elegance with modern performance. We had the chance to drive the first prototype in California, and it’s as thrilling as it sounds.
Inspired by Jaguar’s legendary 1988 Le Mans win, TWR plans to build 88 Supercats, with production kicking off in 2025. Remarkably, TWR is set to manufacture more of these bespoke creations next year than Jaguar itself.
The transformation starts with a classic Jaguar XJS, which undergoes a complete overhaul. The chassis and braking systems are upgraded, and the interior is redesigned with modern amenities. However, the standout features include a widened, winged all-carbon body and a reengineered engine.
Under the hood, the original 5.3-liter V12 engine is bored out to 5.6 liters, enhanced with a dry sump, a new cylinder head, an upgraded valve train, billet cams, and a supercharger paired with a charge cooling system. These modifications result in a jaw-dropping output of over 650 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
The TWR Supercat isn’t just about power; it’s about precision and refinement. With its upgraded components and iconic design, this limited-production masterpiece represents the pinnacle of restomod craftsmanship, blending heritage with cutting-edge engineering.
Driving the Supercat is an experience like no other—a perfect fusion of nostalgia and high-performance thrills.
