Stadler Motorsport’s #20 Porsche survived the ups and downs of the grueling 24 Hours of Dubai to clinch overall victory after 603 laps; the Swiss team, which qualified in 14th position, inherited the lead from Fach Auto Tech 2’s #4 Porsche seven hours before the end of the race and never had to look back.
Fach Auto Tech 2’s Porsche 997 GT3 R snatched the lead after the 13th hour following trouble for Team Abu Dhabi by Black Falcon and SX Team Schubert, but a gearbox issue forced the #4 car to pit for repairs, thus losing the lead to Stadler Motorsport and tumbling down the order. The Swiss team ultimately finished 16th overall.
All-Inkl Münnich Motorsport’s #38 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 crossed the finish line in second place ahead of Black Falcon 2’s #2 Mercedes; the latter team was running in second place until a tyre puncture, just 4 hours prior to the end, dashed their hopes of a better result.
The pole-sitting #21 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R settled for fifth place behind GT Corse’s #458 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 in fourth. Sixth place went to Walkenhorst Motorsport’s #27 BMW Z4 GT3.
