Nardone Automotive’s €480k Porsche 928 restomod revitalizes the V8 engine, delivering 400+ horsepower and a roaring NASCAR-like exhaust note.
This Stunning €480k V8 Porsche 928 Restomod Now “Sounds Like a NASCAR”
The Porsche 928, a car that never quite succeeded in replacing the 911 but became a cult classic, has been given a striking transformation by French company Nardone Automotive. Once a commercial underdog, the 928 is now cooler than ever with this thorough restomod.
Nardone Automotive, led by Thierry Nardone, decided to completely overhaul the 928’s V8 engine. To do so, they partnered with Italtecnica, a ‘father-and-son’ company with expertise in restomods. “When I presented the project to Italtecnica, what I liked was that they were already in the restomod business,” Thierry explained to Top Gear, emphasizing the importance of attention to detail.
One key upgrade was the intake system. “We needed to completely modify the plenum,” Thierry noted, “because the original airflow was insufficient for increasing horsepower.” The newly designed plenum is not only functional but also a work of art, helping the overhauled V8 produce around 400 horsepower.
The result? A sound that Thierry describes as “like a NASCAR,” far more raucous than the original cross-plane-crank engine, which had a muscle car vibe. You can hear the roar of this revitalized Porsche 928 in the video below and explore more about this impressive Nardone Automotive restomod. It’s hard not to imagine how incredible it would have been with the V10 it always deserved.
