Eddy Abou Karam confirms full 2016 Lebanese Rally Championship season

April 4, 2016 – Lebanese rally driver Eddy Abou Karam confirmed he will take part in the full 2016 Lebanese Rally Championship, starting with the opening round – 32nd Spring Rally – this coming Sunday.

Eddy Abou Karam will team up with co-driver Joseph Kmeid for the third consecutive season in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X sponsored by Silver Star and Tire Mania, and run by Tony Germany Rally Skills team.

Abou Karam was a top contender in the Group N class last season, finishing third overall and scoring a class win in the Spring Rally, and claiming second place in class in the Cedars’ Rally, but mechanical trouble haunted him in Rally of Lebanon, from which he retired, and he eventually settled for 3rd place in the Group N championship standings.

Eddy’s biggest achievement in 2015 was securing the Lebanese Hill Climb Championship Group N title following a dominant win in Deir El Qamar, a second place in Falougha and a fourth place in Bkassine.

Abou Karam now looks forward to a more successful season in 2016, saying: “We decided to contest the championship at the very last minute, but I’m glad it all came together in the end.”

“The aim is to fight for the Group N championship title in 2016, as has been the case for the past couple of years. I would like to thank my sponsors Silver Star and Tire Mania for their continuous support and I’m hoping for a trouble-free season ahead.”

The 2016 Spring Rally is scheduled on Sunday, April 10, with teams having to cover 328.49 kilometers that include 8 special stages.
