Exciting Changes Announced for 2024 Qatar International Baja

QMMF announces key updates for the 2024 Qatar International Baja, moving to October and featuring thrilling desert stages through Sealine.

The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) has revealed details for the 2024 Qatar International Baja, now rescheduled to run from October 30 to November 2. The event will host the sixth rounds of both the FIA World Baja Cup and FIM Bajas World Cup, as well as round two of the FIA Middle East Baja Cup.

The event’s start and finish ceremonies will take place at the iconic Katara Amphitheatre in Doha, and the final stage will run through the scenic Sealine area in southern Qatar. The 9.9km Prologue stage kicks off the action on October 31, determining starting positions for the following day’s stages, although it will not count toward the overall standings.

FIA competitors will face two challenging stages of 122.48km and 122.04km on November 1, with FIM entrants navigating the same terrain in reverse, separated by a refueling zone. On November 2, all competitors will tackle a 249.68km stage, including a stunning route through Sealine. The total distance for FIA competitors is 856.43km, with 494.20km of competitive stages, while FIM entrants will cover 888.50km with 504.64km timed.

The Baja, which replaced the longer Qatar Cross-Country Rally in 2022, has grown into an important fixture on both the FIA and FIM calendars. Last year’s winners included Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah in the car category, Konrad Dabrowski in motorcycles, and Arnoud Dom in quads.

The QMMF is offering attractive incentives for competitors, including shipping allowances of up to $6,000 for international FIA entrants and $3,000 for GCC participants, along with air tickets and accommodations. Early registrants can also qualify for start prizes of up to 10,000 QAR for FIA entrants and 5,000 QAR for FIM riders.

Entries are open until October 16, with reduced rates available until October 2. For more details, participants can contact Competitor Liaison Officer Davy Patterson or the QMMF directly via their official contact details.
