Singapore witnessed a horrific crash last Saturday night, leaving three dead and two injured, which fueled a public outrage.
The video footage shows a blue Hyundai Sonata taxi pulling ahead after the green light goes on. As the taxi reaches the middle of the crossing, we see a rare $1.4 million Ferrari 599 GTO, smashing into the blue sedan after crossing a red light.
The Ferrari driver, a rich 31-year old Chinese businessman, died immediately, while the 51-year old cab driver and his passenger, a 41-year-old Japanese woman, succumbed to their injuries a couple of hours later at the hospital. The young female passenger of the Ferrari, and a motorcyclist hit by the cab, were hospitalized.
The accident has sparked a strong “anti-foreign sentiment” throughout the country with many people posting online attacks on Chinese and other foreigners as well the government’s immigration policies.
