The go anywhere, do anything spirit that’s always at the very heart of the Jeep brand really came to life in Lebanon when Gargour Automotive Company recently staged their second annual Jeep Jamboree, with 26 Jeep Wranglers and 80 adventurous participants taking part.
“This year’s course brought the very best out of Lebanon’s Jeepers and was a true test of the legendary capabilities of their Wranglers,” said Negib Debs, Chrysler Group General Manager at GAC. “New terrains, including river crossings, added to the fun, while the more difficult off-road track with demanding rocky obstacles added to the adrenalin rush.”
> Jeep Jamboree visits Lebanon for the first time
The concept of the Jeep Jamboree, which is immensely popular around the world, is to stage a full day four-wheel-drive adventure that’s probably unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before – they’re designed to accommodate every level of expertise so they’re fun for everyone, from novices to experienced off-road drivers and everyone in between, and whether they’re driving models straight from the showroom or vehicles with lift kits and other Mopar accessories.
An experienced support team helped the participants navigate a specially planned route that started at Gargour Automotive’s Mopar Expresslane Service Centre in Bouar and took in, along the way, El Machnaka junction, Janna (Nahr Ibrahim), Qartaba, Amaz, Sad Chabrouh and finished at the Intercontinental Mzaar Hotel.
“Since the very first Jeep Jamboree wended its way through Northern California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, located in Northern California in 1953, these events have been the ideal way to help Jeep owners discover the unequalled capability of their vehicles in a safe, controlled way – and, best of all, everyone that takes part makes lots of new friends along the way. Once again, this year’s event was a great day out and a highly enjoyable and adventurous off-road experience for all of our Jeep customers who took part,” said Debs.
“We want to thank all of our customers for making the 2014 Jeep Jamboree a resounding success – this year’s more demanding course meant that everyone taking part completed the event with a real sense of achievement and went away eagerly anticipating the next event that is planned for Spring 2015, and we already have big plans for next year!”
Sadly, Mark A. Smith, a world-class adventurer, 4 x 4 motorsports pioneer and the man who organized the first ever Jeep Jamboree all those years ago, passed away in June this year aged 87, but events like the Gargour Automotive Company Jeep Jamboree will keep his spirit alive for many years to come.
