German professional footballer Marco Reus has been fined a whopping 540,000 EUR (660,000 USD) – the highest sanction of its kind in Germany – for a series of driving offenses that includes driving without a license.
Interestingly, Borussia Dortmund star had been driving with no license for the past three years. During this period, he received five speeding tickets but police never figured out his secret until now.

According to newspapers German Bild, Reus explained that he took driving lessons at 18, but never took the license test.
“I decided back then to take that road but the reasons I did it are something I cannot really understand today. I know that I was too naive and that it was stupid. I have learned my lesson and this will not happen again.”
