Guess which brand sold the most AWD cars in 2016

June 21, 2017 – Beating Germany’s Audi and its quattro all-wheel drive system by a considerable margin, Japan’s Subaru and its symmetrical all-wheel drive managed to take the AWD sales crown in 2016.

According to Subaru U.K, the Japanese car manufacturer sold 964,892 all-wheel drive cars worldwide in 2016, which is 245,382 units more than Audi, which ranked 2nd with 720,510 units. Jaguar Land Rover ranked 3rd with a total of 485,787 AWD cars sold.

Subaru’s biggest market was the United States, which contributed to 60 percent of its global sales volume.

It is worth mentioning that Subaru’s all-wheel drive system comes as standard on all of their cars, except the BRZ coupe that is pushed by its rear wheels only.
