German drifter Harald Müller has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the World’s Longest Drift in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Samsun, Turkey, on 15 July 2014.
Müller managed to complete 144 kilometers (612 laps) in 2 hours, 25 minutes and 18 seconds driving a stock Toyota GT 86 on a round course that measured 235.50 meters; his first attempt failed, but the second one was successful. The independent witness was Görkem Cosgun, a judge for King of Europe Drift Series.
Abdo Feghali and Chevrolet held the previous record of 11 kilometers, before having their record broken by Johan Schwartz and BMW with an 82-kilometer drift. Unfortunately, both record are now obsolete thanks to Müller and Toyota’s latest attempt.
