Here’s what happens when you put water instead of fuel in a Subaru WRX STI

May 19, 2016 –  Imagine after stopping at a gas station to fill up your car with – you know – fuel, your car breaks down, only to find out later on that it had been actually filled with water.

This is exactly what happened to the owner a Subaru WRX STI, who found out that his Subaru’s fuel tank was 65 per cent filled with water. But how did this happen?

Apparently, water from severe storms and flooding leaked into the gas station’s underground fuel tanks, and the water ended up being pumped into the poor Subie, which sustained engine damage. Fortunately, the insurance company paid for the $2,400 repairs.
