Although race car safety has improved over the years, some unavoidable incidents might occur from time to time. The 2012 Belgian Grand Prix first lap pile up is an example, and the footage below is another.
In the video, a Porsche 944 faces gearbox problems mid-race and is forced to stop in the middle of the track, that’s when a speeding BMW E30 comes crashing into its back. A massive explosion then takes place after a third car passes over the Porsche’s leaked fuel.
The Porsche 944 driver, trapped inside of his flaming car, is then saved by the heroic BMW E30 driver. Check out how it all happened in the video footage below.
