GMC has revealed the Hummer EV Carbon Fibre Edition as part of its 2026 model year update, delivering a major power boost and quicker acceleration. The updated Hummer EV Pickup now reaches 60mph in just 2.8 seconds, down from its already quick three-second time.
This performance upgrade comes from improved software tuning that unleashes 1,144bhp from the tri-motor powertrain—an increase over the previous 1,000bhp. The Hummer EV SUV will also be offered in Carbon Fibre Edition form, though no acceleration updates have been confirmed for that version yet.
Visually, the Carbon Fibre Edition features distinct design upgrades, including carbon fiber accents on the mirror caps and skid plate inserts, plus 22-inch black wheels with all-terrain tires and darker trim elements.
One of the key functional enhancements is the addition of King Crab mode, which allows for advanced rear-wheel steering. This feature enables the rear wheels to turn more aggressively than in standard four-wheel drive, improving agility in tight spaces, especially off-road or during low-speed maneuvers.
GMC will also make King Crab mode available as an over-the-air update for existing Hummer EV owners. Other updates include bidirectional charging, which allows the vehicle to power a home or another EV, and the integration of next-gen Super Cruise for semi-autonomous driving. Suspension updates also promise a smoother ride.
Production of the updated Hummer EV is set to begin soon, bringing more performance, smarter tech, and enhanced off-road capability to GMC’s flagship electric truck.
