HWA RACLAB Will Race in the New International FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2019

HWA AG is adding another aspect to its international motorsport presence: From 2019, the Affalterbach-based company will line up with its own Formula 3 team, named HWA RACELAB.

The team plans to run three cars in the new Formula 3 International series. The global series will contest its races at Formula 1 race weekends. It forms an important level within the restructured “FIA Formula pyramid”, which is aimed at gradually preparing talented racing drivers on their road to Formula 1 – starting with regional Formula 4 and Formula 3 championships, progressing through new, global F3 and F2 formats, and ultimately aiming for the pinnacle of motor racing – F1. It is yet to be confirmed who will drive the three HWA RACELAB Formula 3 cars.

“The commitment of entering a team in Formula 3 is an exciting new project for HWA RACELAB. It is a very good opportunity to apply our know-how as engineering experts and as the most successful team in the history of the DTM. The international aspect means I am expecting a very competitive environment and one that we are looking forward to taking on. We also believe that the restructuring of Formula racing offers great potential for the systematic support of young drivers. This is where the champions of the future are formed, and we want to do our bit! With our wide range of motorsport projects, we are able to offer talented youngsters fascinating development prospects,” said HWA RACLAB team principal Ulrich Fritz.
