The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N gets a model year update, including a new 10-stage drift mode and improved features for an even more engaging EV experience.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has earned a reputation as an electric vehicle that proves EVs can be exciting to drive. Now, it’s about to get even better as Hyundai reveals the details of a model year update for 2025, starting with the Korean market.
This latest update doesn’t alter the exterior or interior design but focuses on software improvements based on customer feedback. It appears Ioniq 5 N owners are enjoying the performance aspect, as the main highlight of this update is the refined N Drift Optimiser mode, now offering ten different levels of drift assistance.
Previously, the drift function was simply on or off. Now, the updated system is more adept at interpreting drift conditions and provides varying levels of assistance to help drivers get sideways. The most advanced setting—Stage 10, called “Pro Mode”—is designed for experienced drivers to truly test their drifting skills.
Hyundai has also enhanced the N e-Shift, a feature that replicates the sensation of an eight-speed paddle shift gearbox. The update includes a new downhill assist function that simulates engine braking, similar to a traditional internal combustion engine, while driving down steep slopes. The N e-Shift can now be used in Eco mode, and a “downshift memory” function has been added, allowing drivers to pre-select a lower “gear” that engages when the simulated engine speed drops to the appropriate level.
Additionally, the N Launch Control has been tweaked, now playing a “launch control preparation sound” through the speakers even when the artificial engine noise is turned off. Other improvements for the Korean market include intelligent LED headlights, automatic central locking, and a vibrating steering wheel to alert the driver when necessary.
